I lied.
I ran a little photography business when I was in my last two years of high school. When I graduated in 1958, I closed the business and went into the military to get schooling in electroncs. As much as I liked photography, I was not happy having a business where I took pictures on demand from other people.
Electronics was a good career for, as it threw me into constant contact with other strange and wonderful people. People who understood me and whom I understood. I worked mostly in R&D and maintenance and repair. I was on the cutting edge of many advances in communications, computers and process control. I even owned my own business for over 20 years, designing, installing and training on computer systems for small business.
Then I burned out and moved back into a small town in central Washington. After 20 years of working for myself, I swore I'd never work for that SOB again. I had worked 18 hours a day, seven days a week for 20 years and was exhausted. When we arrived in Moses Lake, nobody would hire me in computers or radios, so I took a temporary job as a school bus driver. That "temporary" job entranced me for the next 10 yearsm until I had to retire. (See previous entry.)
Now, I have gone back into photography. Yup, I'm working for myself, again. However, this time, I'm not going to take pictures of Bar Mitzvas, weddings and other people's cute kids. I'm going to take pictures of what I like and when I like. If somebody likes one enough to buy it, fine. If not, come back next week. There will probably be others to look at. My signature work, right now is SunSets. That will change shortly, when another subject grabs me.

Not having to feed a family and house with this income, I don't have to sell to eat. That is such a relief! I'm having as much fun as if I had good sense.
