This takes a great deal of time, effort, and patience on behalf of the teachers, related service providers, school psychologist, and administrators. Kristina Chew, one of my favorite autism bloggers, recently spoke about her frustrations with her son's school. I wanted to share with you...

Prevalence rates of Autism is now 1 in 91, folks.

A new study reported the prevalence rate for ASDs in the United States as 1 in 91 children including 1 in 58 boys.

Although this is viewed as alarming by many, I see this ratio (at the very least) in my own schools....

Keep educating, integrating, and accepting/accommodating those who are neuro-different....

Greetings. I am the mom of a 17 year old AS son. I think that he is doing well. Lots of interevention, IEP. He will graduate with honors this spring. But we are not sure what the future holds, by any means.
Sometimes it feels like we are reinventing the wheel.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Didn't know about this site. Found that post on your blog to be very helpful. Ryan was PDD-NOS when he was younger. He graduated to Aspy a few years ago. We were fortunate to have spotted it really early and he had excellent early intervention managed by Children's in Boston. Loads of OT and counseling and a full time mom with super focus and dedication to improving the quality of his life have made all of the difference.
